She had been a mug collector ever since She was a teenager. She had all kinds of mugs, from tiny to large and in a variety of colours. Everyone around her wondered how She could possibly collect mugs as a hobby. For her it was much more, She loved the way each one had its own story and journey to her shelf. He had seen her around the office and had started to like her eccentricities. He had casually become friends with her in the office break room but it never went beyond small talk and casual greetings. Everyone around the office knew of how smitten his was. Finally, one day He gathered the courage to ask her out, in the unique way by gifting a mug that said, “Will you go out with me?” And as She read aloud the mug, a tear of joy fell out of her eye… _______________________________________________ He was visiting his favourite café for a quick coffee run when He bumped into her, as She was carrying her mug of hot chocolate to her table. It was a bad accident as the mug broke and as it broke spilling the hot chocolate on her beautiful black coat. He repeatedly apologised and took tissues to wipe it up. Thankfully, it had not fallen on her or it could have caused a bad burn. He offered to buy her a fresh mug of hot chocolate, She refused. He picked up his phone, called his office, and told them He would be in late. He walked up to the counter, bought himself coffee and her hot chocolate and helped her to a couch nearby. They both sat and talked for what seemed like hours about anything and everything. He went in to the washroom and when He returned, She was gone. All She left was a note on a tissue placed below her mug that said, “Sorry, I had to leave. But, who knows we may meet again here, so if you do ever want to meet and talk. Keep this mug and note safe”… _______________________________________________ She poured the hot milk into her favourite mug and sat down for a TV show marathon. It was a cold day outside, and She wanted to stay indoors to stay warm and cosy. She put the mug on the coffee table, and switched on the TV. She was flipping through channels when She was him on one of the local news channels. He was doing a report on the local senior citizen centre. She had seen him around her building, and had always admired his good looks. She loved that He also had a sensitive side as He had been volunteering at the centre since He was a little boy. She began sipping away her milk as He was narrating the story and by the time He finished, her mug was back on the table left half untouched and cold. She vowed in that moment that if She ever saw him, She would without hesitation hug him. And, meet She did the very next week in the elevator. She gathered the courage, and completely catching him off guard embraced him… _______________________________________________
