She never really celebrated New Year’s Eve, it did not really appeal to her as She lived alone. She lived alone and travelling to her hometown for New Years was too expensive. Nevertheless, She had one small tradition, She would go down in the early evening and buy her favorite lemon ice tea, and come back home and pop some popcorn in the microwave. She would sit on her sofa and enjoy a long TV show binge marathon sipping her cold ice tea and crunching her popcorn. Like every year, She got into the elevator, and headed to the supermarket, but She was stopped by him. He was moving into an apartment on her floor on New Year’s Eve. They began their descent and within a few seconds the lift got stuck. She shrieked with fear, as She had a slight case of cluster phobia, and She unintentionally embraced him. He found her to be a very sweet girl, they began talking and as the clock struck twelve, their hearts had found each other… _____________________________________________________________ He had been planning New Years Eve for weeks, this year He was planning a party at the local senior citizen centre. He had come up with the idea to throw a masquerade ball for the centre during one of his volunteer shifts. He was talking to one of his buddies there who seemed to miss his old days from the army. He quickly began the arrangements, and gathered volunteers and it was all set. He was hoping to see her as well at the ball, and finally ask her for a dance. She had been volunteering as well, but not as often as She worked in a radio station across town. What struck him the most was the fact that She was grounded even though She was a local celebrity. The ball began and He went around the party to make sure all the guests were enjoying themselves. As He was walking towards the DJ to start the final countdown, He saw her enter the ball room dressed in a beautiful red gown looking as radiant as a daisy. He knew that the time was now to make and it had to before the New Year… _____________________________________________________________ She had been dragged by her friend to the office New Year party. She was not a big fan of parties; She preferred spending her free time with a few close friends, or binge watching a good TV show. Everyone in her family thought She was too much of a loner, who could never find love or have friends. But He had always noticed her around the office, the quiet yet smart and beautiful girl who worked even when She was ill. He had spoken to her on office matters a few times, but never really gone beyond that. He was waiting for the right moment to talk to her. He saw her from a distance sitting on their office sofa, looking quite bored. He decided to give her some company. He walked over and said, “Don’t you just hate parties? I swear if boss had not forced me into this, I would totally have loved to do a movie marathon with some popcorn to kick start the New Year. Mind if I keep you company? You seem to be one of the only interesting people here”… _____________________________________________________________
